Global Care is the “social justice” and disaster relief arm of International Network of Churches. It has been involved with disaster relief operations throughout Australia. In recent times, it has partnered with other agencies to provide relief and support for victims of floods in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
In the Adelaide Hills, Global Care partners with the District Council of Mount Barker in their 'Home Assist’ program to provide assistance to those who are elderly, disadvantaged or disabled to maintain their gardens and yards.
Another partnership opportunity is working with Kate Oglanby, the Pastoral Care Worker at the Littlehampton Primary School to provide emergency meals to families in need/crisis.
Global Care also partners with the Adelaide Hills Community Health Services and several other Hills Churches to provide support for their mental health clients by way of a friendship program. Through the program, clients have access to a 'buddy' and to weekly social outings.
Due to the success of the Share program, a youth version aimed at 16 to 22 year olds is now being offered.
Global Care is a non-profit organisation and relies on donations, grants and fund-raising activities to maintain these valuable community services.
